Los Angeles, California
Don’t look now, but it’s time for another sinister submission from Danny. The best part about fall in southern California is when the weather changes. In the summer we have back sweat day time highs in the 90’s. But when October hits we see comfy days and chilly nights. The type of nights that make white noise enthusiasts (WNE) reevaluate their fan placement near the window. But the crown jewel of this seasonal change has to be the rain. It’s hot and dry for most of the year. So when the rain and blanket gray arrive it’s a novel experience. Skateboards are put away and exchanged for bus passes. The calming sound of rain washes out the So. Cal long honks as well as the Zapp & Roger on the car stereos. It’s a well deserved break for all of us.
But the rain also brings out some of the most text book BDs. Late nights shrouded with torrential downpours are a Body Dumper’s best friend. Visibility becomes greatly diminished. Already shaky eye witness accounts lose even more credibility on a rainy night. You do not even have to rely on sick Dumper peel outs to leave quickly. Slow acceleration will adequately protect your anonymity since everyone stays inside to dodge the rain. It’s the perfect scenario for foul play or a double visit to fast food drive thrus.
Danny once again shows that he is a master of composition. We must appreciate the boldness of color that a particular LA eccentric has chosen for their house. The canary yellow paint contrasts nicely with the faded blue of this Dumper. An already beautiful car is given the added privilege of dynamic surroundings. Make no mistake, Danny knew he was in the midst of a perfect storm. Fresh rain gathers and creates an ideal canvas for BD documentation. The lines of symmetry on this BD lead us back to rainy nights of the Nixon administartion. Before the paint job became two tone, this was a Dumper of distinction. It offered a sense of subtle trust that raised no red flags. It glided through rainy streets with no visible interest of foul play. And today it sits just as quietly. This could be the whip of a pacifist bohemian KCRW supporter. But it’s sordid past will never be overlooked.
