Another legendary contribution from Ed Smith has arrived at Body Dumpers. The high end Cadillac culture of New York City suddenly seems so far away. We are left with only remnants of a once high class Dumper. The vintage Cadillac clearly wears many hats in the modern world. At times we see the peak of refinement and at others we are bluntly aware of a Dumper on life support. These two extremes work together in a synergistic fashion to always keep us aware of America’s automotive past.
This Dumper is the true manifestation of big trunks and sheet metal. Never before have we seen the visceral malleability of a BD’s very fabric. In many ways it poetically suggests how the Body Dumper has adapted over time. We see a once timeless relic now sitting in a shit heap in 2010. This particular BD has seen the demise of Richard Nixon, the rise and fall of disco, and even the syndication of Seinfeld. The decades of its life are like complex chapters of an esoteric novel. It has not succumbed to the apathy of its owners. The future is now for this Dumper. And the past is nothing more than a concept.
The two tone finish on the sheet metal is a sick cornucopia of half baked restoration. Body Dumper forensics suggest this car has been in some high speed pursuits. The dents and discoloration create day dreams of sick T-Bone maneuvers by local law enforcement. In the midst of all this foul play though the hubcaps remain. Instantly we are reminded of the Cadillac as the apex. The highest in quality and taste. No Dumper chase is too much. The rag top will be dropped on a sunny day, and once again we will witness the timeless grace of the Cadillac.
